asterisk pbx
Thursday, September 22nd, 2005With a little help, I was able to build my own Asterisk PBX. At first, I wasn’t sure how practical having my own personal PBX would be, but it appears as though there are a number of cool tricks that I can take advantage of:
- multiple phones in use simultaneously
- an automated system attendant when there is no answer
- personal phone lines, and voicemail boxes
- options for forwarding the phone call to a cellphone
- voice mail is e-mailed as a wav file
- using a softphone in my laptop to bring my phone with me across the Internet
- hold music
- custom phone rings (for people who phone ME!)
I am quite excited for BabyTEL to port my phone number over. I think it will be pretty cool using this new technology.
